Hi all ! I am compiling a dvd to fit on 4.7GB disk and I am having a bit of trouble with the bitrate calculation,. as I am still getting a few clicks in the audio when the dvd plays back on my trusty testing standalone desktop machine. On a my laptop it is fine..
Its format is PAL
It is 80min in Length
It features 2 x Audio tracks
1 x AC3 2.0 @224kbit & 1 x AC3 5.1 @448kbit
I also have 6 x menu audio clips @ 192kbits which are 40 sec in length each.
And 35MB of other media,. tiffs / mp2 for menu items etc,..
I have been encoding using Compressor & my current output settings are two pass VBR @ 5.7kbits max to 5.2kbits minimum,. and I still get a few clicks everynow and then on the audio,..the video playback not too bad...,. and help or pointers from anyone would be great,..

The clicks in the audio shouldn't have anything to do with the bitrate. They are caused either by problems in the source audio, problems during audio compression or problems during audio decompression. From your description (plays well on one system, not on another), the latter seems most likely.
Does the DVD play well on set-top players?
You could try uninstalling any "codec packs" that you may have on your desktop system, in case there is a conflict between different AC3 decoders.
There are also some programs that will show you a list of installed audio filters and let you enable or disable them individually.
