Hello all, I am having a peticular problem with the DVDs that I make and was wondering if anyone had an idea as to how to fix it.

Whenever I fast forward or rewind the disc I have made, my stand alone player seems to have a real problem searching the disc.

At a 2x fast forward, everything seems OK, but anything faster and it starts to have problems.

The timer advances on the player, and when I stop fast forwarding, the video is in the correct spot, but during FF, the video never changes.

On my commercial DVDs, during a FF, the video changes frames corresponding to the timeline.

And when I tried a 16x FF, the player has a real problem searching the disc. Sometimes it will stop playing altogether.

Anyone experience anything like this that can help me out?

Thanks again!

Craig

Recordable DVDs are less reflective than industrial DVDs. The player probably can't read the data reliably enough at such a high speed. You may have better results with a different brand of discs, but there's nothing you can do beyond that. In other words, this is not caused by any authoring decision, it's simply a media issue.

Can you recommend a player that seems to handle recordable DVD disks well?

I record on a Sony writer, and use Sony media.

Thanks!
