I read over the guide on this site for making DVD files with TMPGEnc. I choose my settings and then tried to import the file into DVDit! PE. DVDit! won't take the file. It complains that "DVDit! cannot use this file. It appears to be an MPEG file, but is not identifiable as NTSC or PAL"I have had no problems until I made the changes getting files into DVDit! so I know I changed something. I've tried making small changes but with no luck. Does anyone have any experience with this? Maybe an idea of what I can check. Some of the changes I made was:
Enocde mode: Interlace and non-interlace.
Changes in the GOP settings I:1 P:7 B:3
opened and closed GOP
Turned on/off the output YUV data as Basic YCbCr not CCIR601
Quantize matrix set to default and CG/Animation
Any ideas are welcome. Thanks in advance. _________________ -jay |

None of those settings is directly related to the format. NTSC is 720x480, 29.97 fps and PAL is 720x576, 25 fps. As long as these settings are correct, your authoring program should import the file.
Also:
The output file should always be interlaced, unless you're making a 24-fps (film) DVD.
A GOP with 7 P-pictures and 3 B-pictures would have 29 frames. This is not allowed by the DVD standard. The GOP must be less than 15 frames (for PAL) or less than 18 (for NTSC).

Maybe the fps is my problem. The source is 23.976 fps I think I am leaving that the same. I'll try the 29 and see if that works.
Thank you. _________________ -jay |
