The calculator shows the projected size for the video and audio files, plus the remaining space (look in the bottom right). If you're going to use uncompressed audio (PCM, 48 KHz, 16 bits), this adds up to 1318 MB which, added to the 3 GB of video, makes up a total of 4.3 GB, which is the actual size of a 4.7 GB recordable DVD.
If you're going to use compressed sound (MPA, AC3 or DTS), enter the bitrate in the appropriate field. If you already have the audio tracks, check their bitrate, add them together (ex., 2 x 192 = 384 Kb/s) and enter that value in the custom audio bitrate field).
