Hi RMN,
As you know, Premiere Pro now works in YUV color space, there is no frameserving package that really works in YUV color space. I checked up www.debugmode.com (PluginPac) author and found that his frameserver only works in RGB color space.
Anyways, my question here is if I don't frameserve from Premiere Pro but export my miniDV (NTSC 29.97 fps) source to a AVI (using the default Mainconcept DV codec 2.4.3) and then use TMPGEnc (latest version) to work on the AVI to convert it to MPEG2 (for use in making DVD-R/RW) using your guide, will there be a quality loss?
Is directly frameserving to TMPGEnc from Premiere Pro better than making a AVI and then work on the AVI from TMPGEnc with respect to quality OR in what respects frameserving is preferred?

TMPGEnc works in RGB internally, so even if you give it YUV data, it will convert it to RGB to do the motion search (and then back to YUV, to save the MPEG data). This is one of the motives why TMPGEnc is slow. Theoretically, this can introduce a quality loss, but if the conversion is made with enough precision, it shouldn't be noticeable (an error of less than 0.4% is irrelevant because the channels use 8 bits, and less than that isn't enough to flip a single bit).
Generally it's a better idea to use the frameserver, because you skip the DV recompression (although this shouldn't introduce any noticeable loss in quality, either).
