Hi everybody,
I have used TMPEG to encode a couple of mpg2-files and want to create a dvd. The files playback fine in the Windows Media Player, so I guess all codecs are installed and available. However after importing the files in Adobe Encore the programme will not allow previews of the video-footage, as if the proper codec is not installed. When I record the session to dvd, everything is there and works fine, but I cannot preview it prior recording.
Does anybody have a good guess?
I am using WindowsXP and have divx5.11, directx9 and the cole2k media-codec-pack installed. For encoding I have used TMPGEnc 2.5 and for authoring Adobe Encore 1.0.
Thanks for some support. |

Make sure that the GOP header interval is set to 1 in TMPGEnc. Also, try telling TMPGEnc to use closed GOPs; some players have issues with open GOPs.
Also, make sure that Encore isn't recompressing your footage (should be obvious, from the time it takes when you compile the DVD). If it is, you might have a wrong setting somewhere in TMPGEnc (ex., wrong resolution).

I`ve checked all the settings and they are as recommended.
In the meantime I`ve also tried 2 other encoders - the one that is built in Premiere by Adobe and Sceneo's "Vcopy". The Premiere-Plugin works fine, but the mpgs produced with Vcopy won`t either playback in Encore. |

In Premiere, did you use VBR or CBR? And in TMPGEnc? Try using CBR in the other encoders and see if Encore plays it correctly (not that this is a real solution, but at least it'll give you a clue as to why Encore plays some files but not others).

Encore is always less than happy about any of these 3rd party codec packs being installed.
They are usually a collection of assorted registry hacks, and should ideally be removed.
Try the Encore Support forums too - which build of Encore are you using? _________________ www.opusproductions.com
