Hi.
When I add an extra audio track, when I go to burn, I am told that the total bit rate is too high.
What to do?
Thanks, D |

Keep the total (Video + Audio 1 + Audio 2) under 9.8 Mb/s and you should be fine. You'll probably have to re-encode at a lower bitrate.

Hi. Thanks. This is good. Now one or two other points on the same line:
1
I do not encode my audio. I export it from AVID as a .wav file and then put this into the authoring programme directly.
Is this the best way to ensure audio quality?
2
I encode video at max 8000.
How do I know how much my audio 'weights'?
If I need this then I would know at what max rate to encode my video.
3
How much do subtitles 'weight' (using the subtitle option in DVDWS2)?
Really appreciative for all your help.
God bless, D |

Subtitles are almost irrelevant. Uncompressed audio uses 1536 Kb/s. For multiple audio tracks you really should look into using AC3 (Dolby Digital) audio, otherwise you are going to have to use very low video bitrates.

OK, that's sounds good (no pun intended).
I am not really familiar with the format you mention. I will see if either Procoder2 or my DVDWS2 can convert my AVID audio files to this format.
(AVID gives me an option to export as .wav or something like AIFC... would this help?)
By the way, do you speak Spanish or Italian as part of my team doesn't speak English (-like guys in Mexico and a great assist I have here in Rome)? I wold love them to be able to benefit form this super forum.
God bless and thanks again,
D |

I speak Spanish (Castellano) pretty well, and I speak a bit of Italian. But I can't write very well in either language.
Anyway, even if your authoring programs can't convert the PCM audio to Dolby Digital (which, BTW, is the audio format used by virtually all commercial DVDs), they might be able to import it. In this case, you might be able to use a plug-in to your editing program, or an external encoder, to convert from WAV to AC3 (Dolby Digital).

Thanks.
I have found that DVDWS2 will allow me export Dolby Digital.
(Actually I am using the trial version which does not have this option, so now I guess I just get the real thing!)
Sincerest thanks for all your help so far.
God bless... and sweet dreams for whenever you sleep!
