I also tried setting a constant bitrate of 4000 which caused the same error. Any ideas on what the error is?

It would be nice if you could give some more details about your source file. "Invalid pointer" sounds like it could be either an issue with the source file or a memory allocation error.

Try encoding a different file and see if the error still occurs.
