Hello,

i am a recruit here. i have read the document "using a frameserver between Premiere and TMPGEnc" in the address http://dvd-hq.info/frameserver.htm. thank you very much for this useful documentation. but i didnt understand the last part "linking the exported audio and video files with the help of a DVD authoring program".
Could you please explain how can i achieve this? can i use again TMPGEnc for doing that ? which program should i use ? i do not want to make menus and etc. ..do i have to use a DVD authoring program anyway? is it possible to burn a DVD with this .wav and .m2v file directly? i just want to make my own DVD video with sound.

thanks and kind regards,
Deja

The good news is this is very simple.
The bad news is that IMO you need Adobe's Encore DVD.
If you use this app, import the M2V and the WAV file as assets, and create a new timeline with the M2V file. Just drag n drop the WAV file into an audio stream under the M2V and away you go. It's as simple as that.
There is also a cheaper option, TMPGEnc DVD. its at
http://www.pegasys-inc.com/en/index.html, and if you buy with TMPGEnc plus you get both for $100. It will also handle Dolby Digital as well as DTS files, which for DTS cannot yet be done in Encore.
Personally, I'd go with the Adobe app, as it is more flexible and simple to use. The TMPGEnc Plus is my default MPEG encoder though.

More bad news. You MUST create at least one menu, and you MUST use an authoring program of some description. TMPGEnc does not link the Audio/Video files, although you can set the output to multiplex the two together for you. The main reason NOT to do this is that a lot of authoring apps just get very sad & refuse to work properly if you do.
Hope this helps.

You don't need to create any menus. Depending on the authoring program, you can usually just set your movie as the "first play".

In which case, the authoring app is creating an Autoplay for you then?
What happens if you hit the "title" key on the remote? I thought from my understanding of DVD spec that at least a basic menu is needed for this at least?
Maybe I am wrong, though, as my speciality is Audio! (still a video newbie)

The first thing the DVD player looks for is the "first-play program chain" (which is inside the VIDEO_TS.IFO file). This is a block (usually called "cell" in DVD lingo) that usually contains only a link to some other block. This other block can be a menu, a clip, a script, etc..

When you set a clip as the "first play", most authoring programs simply make the first-play PGC point at the clip you selected, instead of pointing at a menu.

Depends. If there's a title menu, it's displayed. If there's no title menu, nothing happens. Note that the title menu does not need to be the first play, nor the first menu.

Thanx for the clarification!
As I said before, I'm still new to the actual video side of DVD, much more familiar with the Audio format and Audio on DVD-Video.
It's a minefield of bad information out there. So many people - including those who should know better - just don't seem to know the specs properly.
