Hi,

I use TMpgEnc for video conversion.
I notice that when I use ES instead of SS the resulting files (video only) same bitrate are much smaller. (700 Mb instead of 2Gb)

I guess I must bedoing something wrong.
Any ideas what however ?

I am converting Xvid + Ac3 to mpg 2 + ac3 for dvd authoring.
bitrate 7000 for a movie of around 40 min.
size should be 2 Gb acording to my calc.

Elementary streams do not include a lot of extra data that is always present in system streams. They will always be a bit smaller, but the difference should never be that big.

Make sure the other settings are the same - I think that TMPGEnc will alter some values when you change the stream type, and you have to change them back manually.
