Hi guys,
I am looking for a good audio encoder. I am using DVDMaestro for authoring. It looks like that I can not use the ACC audio format. I tried toolame for MPEG-2 compression and it seems to work. But I could not find a guide for choosing the settings. I was very happy with the ACC encoder. It produced a file with 147kb/s which was very good. Can you tell me what has worked and what settings are usefull. The sound consits mainly of voice and background music (soft classical or jazz, songs generally soft).
Thank you so much.

Check out:
www.doom9.org --> Guides --> Audio --> BeSweet or HeadAC3he for AC3/MP2/MP3/WAV -> MP2 conversion. |

Hi,
thanks weasle for this hint. I have to clarify my situation. It is a little different. My source material is a AVI file, so the sound is in WAV. I am looking for a high quality encoder WAV to AC3.
Thank you,

In your first message you seemed to suggest you wanted to know more about MPEG audio encoding. If you want to encode to AC3 then you can either use an authoring program that includes an AC3 compressor (ex., ReelDVD) or use a stand-alone encoder such as SoftEncode or BeSweet (I've never tried BeSweet but from what I've read, the latest versions will convert PCM / WAV to AC3).
